A moving act of kindness: a dog lost in the snow for more than 20 days, hungry and frozen, desperately begging for help, was fortunately rescued by a stranger who offered him a real home, leaving a deep impression on all who witnessed the scene.t

Someone in Detroit noticed that their neighbor had chained their two-year-old dog outside during a snowstorm. The poor dog was shivering and holding her paws because she was so cold.

The neighbor knew they should get help immediately. If the puppy had been left outside any longer, he would have died. They quickly called Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue, explained the situation and asked if rescuers could come get the dog.

A law passed last February made it illegal for owners to tie a dog outside for more than three hours, but this family clearly didn’t care and broke the law anyway.

When the rescuers arrived, they knocked on the family’s door, but they did not want to talk to the rescuers. The Detroit Pit Crew staff knew they had to force the family to kill the dog. When they finally spoke to the family, what they heard shocked them and broke their hearts.

“[The neighbor] opened the door to show me that the other dog was inside, and she said that [the owner] was no longer expecting the dog that was outside and that they were just going to leave it out there,” Theresa Sυmpter. , the founder of the rescue told The Dodo. “So I cried and said, ‘Yes, we’ll take the dog.’ Obviously she’s hurt, she’s cold and she can’t be outside in this weather.’”

They aptly named the dog “Blizzard” and took her to their truck, where she curled up into a ball and fell asleep. She was probably very relieved to finally be safe and sheltered. They then took her to the vet to treat her swollen and frozen paws.

The next day, she cried and went to live with a foster person who already had two other rescue dogs. She gets along great with her new doggy friends and loves all the humans she meets. She is extremely friendly and sweet, despite everything she has been through.

Luckily, this family did the wrong thing by leaving their waiting dog outside in the freezing cold. If you ever witness something like this, contact authorities or a rescue immediately. Shelters are always happy to accept captured animals.
